Things To Do on Bowen Island

About Bowen Island

Bowen Island abounds with both maintained and backwoods trails, as well as narrow winding roads. Try a heart-pounding hike up Mount Gardner, the island's tallest peak, or relax picnicking and bird-watching in a casual walk around Killarney Lake set in a forest of cedar and hemlock trees.

You can bring your own bike or we have mountain bikes available for our guests.

How about a round of golf? The Bowen Island Golf Club offers nine holes with a par-35, 3,075-yard layout, plus lessons and boutique tournaments. Please visit Bowen Golf Course for more information.

Guests can rent a kayak and paddle around the calm waters of Bowen Island on a solo expedition or guided tour. Adventurous kayakers can head over to nearby Keats Island, Gambier Island, or the Pasley Island archipelago, where eagles, herons and deer can be seen.

From July to September, the Bowen Island Summer Market in Snug Cove offers a cornucopia of locally produced goods, including pottery, jewelry, hand-knitted sweaters, and First Nations artwork.

Throughout the year Bowen Island hosts a unique collection of plays and concerts with performers and internationally recognized artists.

Bowen Island is just a 20-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. The quiet, forested island of 52sq km/20sq mi lives up to its slogan of "Within Reach. Beyond Comparison."

Water lovers enjoy kayaking around Bowen Island's sheltered bays, swimming at sandy beaches, and mooring their boats at local marinas. And from mighty Mount Gardner to the shores of Killarney Lake, hiking and mountain biking offer both hilly challenges and pure escapes. The island has 2 grocery stores, liquor store and wine shop, a butcher, 2 hairdressers, a building supply center, several restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops and galleries.
